Cordless Drill Battery
Having a cordless drill is a great tool when you need to do some home improvements and don’t want to hassle with electrical cords and making sure you have power in the place you are.
A cordless drill releys on it’s battery to provide you the power it needs. There are several tips to improve the batteries so they will last longer.
When you buy a cordless drill battery make sure to charge it completely. Many people make the mistake to charge it only for a small period of time and start using it after 15 minutes as they wanted the job done fast but if you fail to charge the battery fullely the first time it will always use the small amount of charge as refernce to a full charge. That way the battery will think it’s full and will not last long.
When your battery runs low make sure to charge it back up again to the fullest. You will know by looking at the lights if the charge is full. Mostely the manufacturer will use a red light for charging and green when it’s complete
Make sure to clean the drill and the battery so the contacts are clean of debries.
There are upgrade kits from several brands that will work with your drill. Giving you an extend batterypower and a longer lasting working time.
As with anything there are a lot of improvements and so also with the cordless drill batteries as there are rapid chargers that will powerup your battery to full in 10-15 minutes.
The 18v batteries are the most common cordless drill battery but there are now also 36v batteries made that will provide even mor power and torque to the tools. Also a lot of brands made a switch to lithium ion batteries which main advantage is a very short charging time and longer working time.
